Join with Salvationists of the Wales Division for day 71 of 150 days of prayer.

  • ‘Be a rock where I can hide. Be a strong place where I can be safe. You are my high rock and my strong, safe place’ (Psalm 71:3, EasyEnglish Bible).

1944

In this year Plaid Cymru (Party of Wales) transferred its head office from Caernarfon to Cardiff.

The 1911 census revealed that, although Welsh was spoken by only 43 per cent of the population in Wales, there were five counties where it was the predominant language – spoken by more than 80 per cent of people.

Three of these five counties were in the northwest and included Caernarfonshire. This helps explain why Plaid Cymru was originally based in Caernarfonshire (in 1925), and why the first Welsh-speaking Salvation Army corps was opened in Caernarfon in 1886 (followed swiftly by a Welsh-language War Cry.)

Plaid Cymru’s move from Caernarfon to Cardiff is an example of where political power is situated within Wales.

Prayer

  • Pray for your local councillors and your member of the Senedd (MS). Follow this link if you don’t know your MS: https://senedd.wales/find-a-member-of-the-senedd/.
  • Pray that politicians of all parties would have wisdom and might conduct their affairs with integrity and compassion.
  • Pray that they and their families will be protected from abuse and threat, which can be part of political life today.
