In 2024 The Salvation Army in Wales will be celebrating 150 years of mission and outreach.
To commemorate this significant anniversary there have been special events throughout the year focusing on celebrating ‘God’s story, our story, your story’.
Friday 15 November marks 150 years since The Salvation Army began working in Wales and the day is being celebrated with two special events. The first is a short act of thanksgiving and worship close to the site of the gospel hall where Captain John Allen first held a meeting in Cardiff in 1874. The second is a prayer gathering and celebration at Merthyr Tydfil, the oldest active corps in Wales, led by Lieut-Colonel Jayne Roberts (THQ) and the Territorial Prayer team. Sound of Wales will be leading worship.
The anniversary is also being celebrated on Tuesday 19 November with a reception at the Senedd Cymru (Welsh parliament) in Cardiff Bay.
