Join with Salvationists of the Wales Division for day 68 of 150 days of prayer.

  • ‘Sing songs to God! Sing to praise his name! He is the one who rides on the clouds, so praise him aloud!’ (Psalm 68:4, EasyEnglish Bible).

1941

For three days – 19, 20 and 21 February – Swansea was blitzed by German bombers. A total of 240 people were killed and much of the city centre was destroyed.

This 2 January entry in the history book of Cardiff Stuart Hall Corps records how Salvationists responded to the bombing of their city:

‘Tonight Cardiff experienced the worst “blitz” since the war. Two hundred men, women and children were given temporary accommodation in the hall for three days and nights. Adjutant and Mrs Gray were helped by Major Morris and her assistants from the slum post, also Major and Mrs Giles.’
