Join with Salvationists of the Wales Division for day 50 of 150 days of prayer.

  • ‘Pray to me when you are in trouble. Then I will rescue you, and you will praise me’ (Psalm 50:15, EasyEnglish Bible).

1923

‘In 1878 … William [Booth] – speaking of things that had hindered the work of the [Christian] Mission in the past – said that they were anxious to make converts, but they should be “more anxious to make saints – soldiers – men and women who can stand alone with nobody to lean on – men and women with some muscle and pluck”.’

(Melvyn Jones, That Contentious Spirituality)

The converts at Swansea certainly measured up to Booth’s requirements. The War Cry (5 May 1923) included a report about Swansea IV Corps: ‘As a result of the converts button-holing people standing around the ring a young man knelt on coats spread on the roadway and sought salvation… Converts are asking for work and are ordering uniforms.’

Prayer

  • Pray for Swansea Corps and its community.
  • Here is a prayer that was placed in the Dyma Gariad (Here is Love) prayer box when it was at Swansea Corps in 2023. ‘I pray that my corps, here in Swansea, will remain relevant, Christ-filled and continue to live out lives dedicated to serving God and serving our local community. I pray God’s blessing on the folk that attend the programme we offer and all future endeavours.’ When you have read it say a loud ‘Amen!’
