  • 'In future years I will cause people to remember that you are a great king!  Then people will praise you always and for ever’ (Psalm 45:17, EasyEnglish Bible).

1918

In 1918, Wales was established as a sub-territory under the British Commissioner. It comprised four divisions: Cardiff, Newport, North Wales and Swansea. The North Wales Division had its headquarters in Wrexham.

The 5 January War Cry included an incident in the life of Brother Griffiths (Rhos): ‘When this young warrior was home recently for ten days’ leave, he expressed to several of his friends his feeling that it was the last time they would see him on Earth, and on his final Sunday at the Corps spoke of his perfect readiness to meet God, should the call come.

‘On his return journey to the front, he got into a conversation with a gentleman who, when he found that they would have to wait some time at a station, asked him to go to an hotel with him. Our comrade very courteously replied: “No thank you sir. I cannot go anywhere that I feel God does not want me to go; I want to be ready to meet Him!”’
