Join with Salvationists of the Wales Division for day 35 of 150 days of prayer.

  • ‘I will tell everyone that you are righteous. I will praise you all through the day’ (Psalm 35:28, EasyEnglish Bible).

Here are the brief stories of an unnamed Salvationist and a 15-year-old Sarah Williams.

The 11 January War Cry report under the headline, ‘Killed at Work’, read, ‘Sorrow is felt at Pentre at the loss of a promising young man who was killed in the pit on Saturday. Only last Sunday week he was preaching, and had arranged to go out this weekend, but was suddenly cut off.

‘The meetings all day were led by Adjutant Hall. At night, a backslider, who lived but a few doors away from the home of the young man who was killed, came forward to the penitent form.’

A residential home Girls Statement Book 8 (Country) recorded the following information:

  • Name: Sarah Williams
  • Age: 15            
  • Where from: Caerphilly
  • Manner of application: Brought by corps officers
  • Ever in prison? No
  • Been a drink case? No
  • Been in other homes? No
  • [Departure] Where to? Ran away.
  • Satisfactory or not at departure: Unsatisfactory. Gave endless trouble whilst in the home.

  • Pray for young people who struggle with life. 
  • Pray for the those giving one-to-one support and teaching to young people who are finding the mainstream school environment challenging.
