Day 139: Praying for celebrations (2012)
3 November 2024
Join with Salvationists of the Wales Division for day 139 of 150 days of prayer.
- 'Please God, look deep inside me. See what is there in my thoughts. Show me if I am following any evil way. Lead me in the right way that has always been true' (Psalm 139:23 and 24, EasyEnglish Bible).
2012
Lieut-Colonel Sandra Moran, former divisional leader, writes:
‘General Linda Bond visited the South and Mid Wales Division in 2012. The division prepared well and an itinerary was organised to showcase different aspects of The Salvation Army in Wales.
‘On Saturday, a full day of events was prepared in Williamstown and the people were so excited to be meeting with the General of The Salvation Army. She was very approachable and showed a keen interest in the people – Salvationists, neighbours and groups of energetic youths who wanted to know what was happening. They decided that the Army was an “OK” organisation after all, and even came inside to join in some of the celebrations.
‘Inside the building, Home and Family Groups demonstrated crafts and other activities. Salvationists were available to talk and answer any questions the public might have. A toddler group and children’s entertainment were provided. A Christian “magician” also entertained, informed and challenged his audiences at various times during the day.
‘Refreshments were available. In the evening, a big Celebration of Faith took place which included the Divisional Youth Choir and Band, lots of testimonies, soloists, Scripture and, of course, a medley of Welsh songs, which encouraged the whole congregation in worship. The venue for the Sunday meetings was the theatre in Port Talbot.’
Prayer
- Thank God for those times when we can gather to celebrate our faith. Together 24 took place in Newport in July. What a joy it was to gather in such great numbers with so many other Salvationists. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
