1982

On 25 June 1982 Brigadier Ivy Roberts (née Lewis) was promoted to Glory. She originated from Dinas Rhondda and left Cardiff 5 to enter training at 24 years of age. A romantic friendship with a young officer came to nothing. However, she found love, and married six years into her retirement. She packed a lot into the intervening years, as shown by the following list of appointments provided by the International Heritage Centre:
