Day 105: Praying for Nantymoel (1978)
30 September 2024
Join with Salvationists of the Wales Division for day 105 of 150 days of prayer.
- 'Ask the Lord to help you. Ask him to give you strength. Always try to be near him and worship him' (Psalm 105:4, EasyEnglish Bible).
1978
The International Heritage Centre (IHC) records say:
‘On June 6th, 1978, Treharris corps officially opened and dedicated their new building. The corps folk marched from the site of their old hall to the new hall where they were received by the civic party. The opening song, ‘Heavenly Father, thou hast brought us/ Safely to the present day’, was sung to the Welsh tune of Hyfrydol.’
The IHC also states:
‘On September 7th, 1978, a coal hewer from Nantymoel was promoted to Glory. Some years earlier, a miner from Brymbo was also promoted to Glory. Both had left the mines in response to their call to officership.
'The former, with the impressive name of Thomas John Charles Bramwell Mills had served at fifteen corps, eleven social service appointments and spent two years on war work.
‘The latter, Thomas Lloyd Pritchard, served in at least eighteen social service appointments before being transferred to Salvationist Publishing and Supplies.’
Prayer
