Army strengthens bond with European churches

Commissioner Vibeke Krommenhoek (IHQ) and Territorial Ecumenical Officer Major Paul Robinson visit the Conference of European Churches (CEC) office in Brussels.

The Rev Frank-Dieter Fischbach, general secretary of the CEC, reported on the organisation’s work with the Pathways to Peace programme – a coordinated response of the European church fellowship to promote justice, reconciliation and peace.

He also reported on the Charta Oecumenica; a joint document between the CEC and the Council of Bishops’ Conferences of Europe, which seeks to preserve and develop fellowship among churches in Europe.

Commissioner Krommenhoek and Major Robinson expressed their interest in the work of the CEC, as the broad ecumenical fellowship enriches the faith and perspective of The Salvation Army.

The Rev Frank-Dieter said that the meeting was an inspiring exchange of experiences, ecumenical reflections and hope.
