How we are helping in Ukraine

This presentation highlights some of the work The Salvation Army is doing internationally. Feel free to download and adapt, you may not want to use every slide. You may also wish to add slides and images, to share what is being done in your local area.

Pupils and students may wish to respond to the talk. The activity sheets are blank, to let you choose the size and activity best suited for the class.

Here are some suggested activities but we recommend consulting the class teacher first:

• Write or draw a message of hope to display in the classroom
• Write a prayer
• List ways The Salvation Army are helping people
• Reflect on why people are being helped
• Space to write their own thoughts or ideas
• Design a welcome poster

A lesson exploring what is a refugee and what The Salvation Army is doing to help refugees across Europe.

Home from home

KS2 Ages 7-11

A story of hope and belonging. This lesson explores how a community can support refugees. It encourages pupils to reflect on how we can be welcoming to others in our lives. It is based on real events, of a Salvation Army community supporting a Syrian refugee family through the Community Sponsorship scheme. There is a PSHE focus but can easily be adapted for RE.
