'Peace' Resources

At Advent we welcome, wait, recognise and embrace God’s coming. Events such as the Covid-19 pandemic and raging wars and conflicts have created an even more unsettled world. This Advent season, we focus on God's coming as the Prince of PEACE.

Explore with your congregation, throughout each Sunday, how different aspects of peace intertwine with the Christmas story. Teaching starters and prayer and creative worship ideas are available alongside PowerPoint templates and the logo.

While Psalm 46 isn’t a passage usually associated with Christmas, its words span the centuries and generations. It’s easy to lose sight of the fact that God is stable, unshakable and all powerful even in times of trouble (v2), when nature rages (v3), when war and conflict seem never ending (v6).

The second Sunday in Advent is traditionally when we light the candle of peace. While thoughts are often focused on peace on earth, it’s hard to strive for outward peace until peace is found within and with God. Matthew 1:18-25 gives us the account of Jesus’ birth through Joseph’s eyes.
