Enable the command using your Alexa device

1. While near your Alexa device, say: ‘Alexa, open Salvationist Radio’ – this should start playing Salvationist Radio. If it doesn’t, please try again, pronouncing the word ‘Salvationist’ as slowly and clearly as possible.
2. The Alexa Skill has now been enabled and the next time you will simply be able to say: ‘Alexa, play Salvationist Radio.’

Enable the command using your computer

1. Visit the Salvationist Radio Alexa Skill page or search ‘Salvationist Radio Alexa Skill’ on amazon.co.uk
2. Sign in to your Amazon account, if you are not already signed in
3. Once signed in, you should be directed back to the Salvationist Radio Alexa Skill page – click ‘Enable’
4. Say to your Echo or Alexa device: ‘Alexa, play Salvationist Radio’ – this should start playing Salvationist Radio. If it doesn’t, please try again, pronouncing the word ‘Salvationist’ as slowly and clearly as possible.

The Amazon Alexa app is available on Apple and Android devices – the app may look slightly different depending on your device.

1. Open the app
2. Tap the ‘more’ icon and select ‘Skills & Games’
3. Search for ‘Salvationist Radio’ and select the Salvationist Radio result
4. Tap ‘launch’ or ‘enable’
5. The Alexa Skill has now been enabled and the next time you will simply be able to say: ‘Alexa, play Salvationist Radio.’ If it doesn’t play, please try again, pronouncing the word ‘Salvationist’ as slowly and clearly as possible.

We had hoped to develop a command for Google smart speaker devices, but unfortunately, Google has removed this facility for Radio.co, our online radio station management software.

Third party apps, such as TuneIn, may offer commands that enable you to play Salvationist Radio on other smart speakers, but we are unable to provide technical support for other apps – please seek advice from the app developer.

The word ‘Salvationist’ can be difficult for Alexa to recognise. We advise that you pronounce the word ‘Salvationist’ as slowly and clearly as possible. Unfortunately, we cannot change the command as it has to include the name of our station.

While the Fortress Radio command hasn’t yet been deactivated, it will ultimately be removed from our account. We recommend that you use the new Salvationist Radio command.
