Unlike a year 'out', this year 'in' forms a framework around your everyday life to explore who God is, who you are and what that could mean for the world.
1. Location learning
Much of Jesus' teaching was outdoors – the world around him was his classroom.
Exploring what the Christian faith has to offer on location means learning is rooted in contextual experience rather than just theory. You will be introduced to various tools to help you to make the most of the places you find yourself in, both on the four residential weekends and in your current context.
2. Reflective mentoring
A great way to grow is through mentoring and it's helpful to have a trusted person to share your Terrain journey with to get the most out of the year. Jesus often helped people learn in this way.
You will be assigned a mentor from your division, as well as having access to the Terrain team for support in your discipleship.
3. Deep community
One of the joys of Terrain is the opportunity to journey alongside others – to belong to an encouraging and supportive group of people who have shared experiences helps you to learn.
The Terrain community is formed through residential weekends and committing to Zoom learning.
4. Solo
Some of your greatest discoveries on the course may occur during solo time. There will be space over the year to get to grips with this discipline through reading, listening, journalling and other creative tasks.
You will also be set tasks outside of the weekends to help activities become habits rooted in the Gospels.
